Intensive Plus Spanish course

Our "Intensive Plus" Spanish course is designed for anyone that wants more than the four hours Spanish tuition a day that you have on our standard intensive course.

The intensive plus course gives you a four-hour a day intensive course and an extra 1.5 hours of conversation practice each afternoon, a total of 26 hours of Spanish a week.

The course is designed to give you the opportunity to develop your listening and speaking skills, through discussing a range of aspects of Spanish culture and history.

On the course, we look at a different aspect of Spanish culture each day. Subjects regularly covered include:

• Spanish social customs Insight into the Spanish way of life and comparison of Spanish social customs with those of your own country - a good way to start to really understand the country.
• Flamenco A course which looks beyond the music and dance to the culture of flamenco
• Spain's cultural diversity The languages, gastronomy, geography and folklore of each of Spain's regional cultures.
• Spanish music
• Ferran Adriá and Spanish Novelle Cuisine
• The districts of Barcelona
• Spanish art in the 20th Century A look at a range of artistic styles including those of Picasso, Dalí, Miró and Tapies.
• The Spanish media Press, radio, television and the Internet, and the language that is characteristic of each media form.
• The Spanish Civil War The causes, most important episodes and many consequences of the war.
• An brief introduction to the history of Spanish literature From the Middle Ages to the present day
• Spain's most popular fiestas The Easter Processions, Fallas, San Fermin, etc.
• Architecture in Barcelona Including - but not by any means limited to - Antoni Gaudí

Timetable

Four hours each morning, 09.30 to 13.30, with a twenty-minute break for coffee taken halfway through the morning.

1.5 hours each afternoon, Tuesday to Friday.

The price of your Spanish course includes registration, level test, classes, all course materials, our programme of social and cultural activities, student card and access to all the school's facilities.
