Spanish for teenagers

Our Spanish for teenagers course - for ages 13 to 17 - takes place in Tarragona, a pleasant coastal resort on the Costa Dorada approximately 100 km south of Barcelona (86 km from the airport).

The course, which includes a full social programme, is run as a joint venture between IH Barcelona and IH Tarragona.

The Director of IH Tarragona is Jane Delaney. Jane and her team have extensive experience of organising junior courses and dealing with younger students as a large majority of IH Tarragona's language students are under the age of 17.

Dates 2012

The 2012 course runs from July 2 to August 11 and students will be able to stay from 2 to 6 weeks. Possible arrival dates are therefore as follows:

• Monday 2 July (2, 3, 4, 5 or 6 weeks)
• Monday 9 July (2, 3, 4, or 5 weeks)
• Monday 16 July (2, 3, or 4 weeks)
• Monday 23 July (2 or 3 weeks)
• Monday 30 July (2 weeks)

Students should arrange departure flights for the Saturday after their course finishes.

Accommodation

Two types of accommodation are available:

• Host families – single or shared rooms
• Student Residence – shared rooms

In both cases, the accommodation is with full board. Students with dietary restrictions or any other special needs are requested to make these known in advance.

We recommend students bring €60 - €100 per week for pocket money, etc.

Insurance

All students will be covered by a basic insurance policy while in Tarragona. However, we strongly recommend students to take out additional travel insurance in their country of origin to cover any loss, sickness or accident which may occur during the course.

About Tarragona

Tarragona is a provincial capital and has a population of around 115,000. It is situated on the Costa Dorada and is an ideal location for a junior program of this kind. The town (sea front shown, right) is lively, but not too big; it has its own sandy beaches within walking distance of the school; it is very close to Port Aventura - one of Europe's largest theme parks and it is only an hour from Barcelona by bus or train.
