IH Cordoba language school

IH Cordoba-Academia Hispanica is located in an ideal position in the city, where the old quarter and the commercial town centre meet, so both the main monuments and essential services are within walking distance.

Facilities

The school building is a traditional two-floor Andalusian house, with a central patio (shown, above) decorated with plants and flowers, which the classrooms look onto. As well as 18 light, fully-equipped classrooms, there is a library, self-access centre, video room and multimedia room. Students have free access to Internet.

We share premises with Academia Británica, our department of modern languages for local students, which creates the ideal atmosphere for students to meet via the parties, chats and competitions we organise.

Academia Hispanica has an agreement with the bistro/bar beside the school that makes it possible for us to organise all sorts of social activities here for the students to meet each other and have a good time.

Methodology

International House supplies us with the latest methodology to guarantee effective learning through direct, communicative teaching of the language, using Spanish in the classroom from day one, and supported by all the latest teaching aids. There is a maximum of 8 students per class, which allows for constant teacher-student interaction. In class, we often draw on situations from everyday life, thus helping the student to relate the academic work directly to their life outside the classroom.

As professionals, we are proud of the quality we offer. These high standards are set both in our foreign languages courses (over 1,300 students are currently learning English, French or German), and in the excellent quality teaching and accommodation Academia Hispanica has been providing to thousands of foreign students after decades of Spanish courses.

Your first day with us in Cordoba

On the first day, students are welcomed by the teachers and the Director of Studies and then do an oral and written level test for placement in the most suitable group for them. Once the organisation into levels is over, students are accompanied to their classrooms to begin their classes.

When the classes are over, a welcoming meeting is held in the assembly room. There the students are given all the information they need about the school and its social programme, and are introduced to the teaching staff as well as their fellow students. Our aim is to help the students feel part of the school, get used to the city and enjoy their stay from the very first day.
