Methodology and levels on our Spanish courses

Methodology

International House teachers have at their disposal a wide range of resources to cover any situation. Classes, based on a communicative approach, are highly participative. Particular emphasis is laid on interaction between teacher and student, as well as between the students themselves.

Group and pair-work activities lead to greater student participation, individually supervised by the teacher. Active participation in the class is a vital part of the course. There is a wide range of activities, games and exercises backed up, in some courses, by a textbook.

This hands-on, interactive and personalised approach ensures that you will understand and speak Spanish from the very first day.

Our final aim is for you, the student, to speak Spanish both fluently and correctly.

Level system

Beginners A1

You will learn to talk about yourself, your family and your work. You will use the present and simple tenses and will learn how to talk about future plans.

False Beginners

You will consolidate the skills you learnt in Beginners A1

Elementary A2

You will improve your ability to talk about day-to-day matters and will broaden your knowledge of Spanish grammar.

Low Intermediate B1

You will improve your command of the language and your confidence in speaking.

Mid Intermediate B1

You will improve your communication skills in speaking as well as writing. You will learn more grammar and the vocabulary you need to manage in more complex situations.

Upper Intermediate B2

You will learn more about the uses of the Subjunctive. There will be more emphasis on accuracy, and on grammar and written Spanish.

Advanced B2

More emphasis on fluency and in developing your vocabulary to reach a very high level of linguistic and communicative ability.

Upper Advanced C1

You will study advanced grammar and vocabulary, with special attention to idioms, and you will use literary texts.
